Wiltshire Film and TV Locations

Wiltshire is a favourite with film makers. From Harry Potter to Jane Austin, there are lots of ideal locations. All these sites are in our village or within close driving distance.

Biddestone

Agatha Raisin is a charming and quirky British village mystery based on the bestselling books by M.C. Beaton.

Scenes from The Christmas Candle and House of Elliot were also filmed in the village.

Bradford on Avon

The Tithe Barn and surrounding areas were used for the filming of BBC's Wolf Hall and Robin Hood of Sherwood. The town was used for the 2009 film Creation and more recently for the filming of the White Princess.

Great Chalfield Manor was used for filming Wolf Hall. The interior stood in for Austin Friars, Thomas Cromwell's home. It is also set to appear in the second series of Poldark.

Corsham

Cosrham High Street doubles up as Truro in the first series of Poldark starring Aiden Turner.

Castle Combe

Often voted the prettiest village in England, Castle Combe has played host to many productions. Doctor Dolittle filmed in around the village in 1966 and recently the village played a major role in Stardust, The Wolf Man, War Horse and Doctor Thorne.

Lacock

The village of Lacock dates back to the 15th century. This National Trust village has played host to many productions.

It provides the backdrop to the BBC production of Cranford, Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, The Other Bolyn Girl and Wolf Hall. Lacock also featured in Dr Thorne and was used as a location for The White Princess.
